EVENTS project, officially started on September 1st, 2022, and kicked-off, physically, on September 7th – 8th, 2022, in Athens, Greece.

EVENTS is a Horizon Europe project that brings together a complementary consortium of 11 partners by 7 EU countries and UK, with the view to deal with complex situations where the normal operation of the Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) is close to be disrupted (e.g., due to dynamic traffic changes, harsh weather/light conditions, unstructured road, imperfect data, sensor/communication failures, etc.).

EVENTS project is coordinated by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and aims to create a robust and resilient perception and decision-making system able to tackle the abovementioned complex situations/challenges. In EVENTS, in case the system or some of the subsystems cannot perform with the expected quality and reliability an improved minimum risk manoeuvre is triggered.

The Kick-off Meeting marked the starting point for the constructive and successful collaboration between all partners. During first day of the meeting, the project goals and objectives were highlighted, while the Work Package leaders from WP1, WP2 & WP3 explained their roles, responsibilities, and visions for paving the way for the success of the project.

Within the same day, EVENTS consortium had also the pleasure to welcome the CINEA Project Officer, Mr. Georgios Sarros, who made an overview presentation about the structure of CINEA, and he also mentioned thoroughly the admin guidelines related to the Grant Agreement that need to be followed. He concluded his presentation by highlighting the expectations from the EVENTS team.

The second day of the EVENTS kick-off meeting was dedicated to the rest Work Packages, namely WP4, WP5, WP6 & WP7.
