The International Symposium “Navigating the Future of Traffic Management” successfully took place from 29 June to 03 July 2025 in the vibrant city of Athens. This premier global event brought together traffic managers, engineers, practitioners, and researchers to exchange knowledge, share innovative practices, and explore cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of active traffic management.
Throughout the week, industry leaders and specialists from around the world led insightful discussions on current challenges, research needs, and emerging opportunities for collaboration across agencies and service providers. The symposium fostered a global dialogue on modern strategies to manage and control traffic across roadways, freeways, motorways, and tollways more effectively.
With a strong focus on safety, multimodal mobility, and climate-conscious solutions, the event highlighted the importance of rethinking traditional approaches and strengthening international partnerships. Participants left inspired and better equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of traffic management in a rapidly changing world.
Over five days, attendees had the chance to participate in 10 hands-on workshops that addressed everything from AI governance and connected mobility to climate adaptation, last-mile logistics, and digital infrastructure; 4 high-level plenary sessions featuring voices from ministries, city authorities, operators, and international experts; technical sessions that explored practical solutions and research across data, automation, operations, and user experience; and two technical visits which offered an inside look into the traffic management centers of two of Greece’s most driven highways.
As part of the conference, a parallel exhibition was held, highlighting cutting-edge technologies from domestic initiatives, groundbreaking projects, pilot research programs, and leading companies within the sector. In I-SENSEGroup/ICCS booth EU projects that drive innovation in ITS, CCAM, and automated mobility. PoDIUM Project, DELPHI_EU project, EVENTSproject22, Hi-Drive, eBRT2030 project, IN2CCAM were featured.
A standout feature of this year’s exhibition was the dissemination of material from the EVENTS project, designed to communicate the project’s objectives, key outcomes, and broader societal impact to both stakeholders and the general public.
